Regrettably, the Chapter has voted to disband. Delta Chi at the University of Northern Iowa at
this time is nonexistent.
The Housing Corporation has taken over full responsibility of the House. By next Fall the Housing Corporation plans to run it as a rental unit to stay ahead of the taxes and cover other bills associated with the property. The intent is keep the property in hopes a Chapter may be recreated in the near future. All Delta Chi material will be stored in a safe place for such an event. The ABT (Alumni Board of Trustees) has not disband. Their duties will be to keep up correspondence with past Alumni, stay active in the event the fraternity re-charters, and most importantly collect money owed to the House and Fraternity. Those not close to the House may be asking how this happened. The Fraternity more or less ceased to operate sometime last Fall semester. There really was no fraternity, just a bunch of guys. While we have been close to this happening several times in recent history, in each case a dedicated few kept things going and enjoyed their Brotherhood. This is not the case this time. Members of the ABT and the Alumni Advisor (BB) knew the Chapter was hurting, and gave advice and opportunities to help. It was not until recently they knew the extent of what was going on, especially last Fall. I will continue to run the website and urge Alumni to keep me updated on emails and addresses. |
